Friday's Post...a little Late!

AFter a week of playing nursemaid to most of the family, Rebecca was feeling well enough to get out for a bit of fresh air. As a final science unit, I'm having them do a nature notebook, observing the changes over several weeks. REbecca
had a great time choosing several items, sketching them, describing them, and taking a photo. She will repeat the same exercise in the same place over the next several weeks. Once inside, we carried things over further and got out the microscope to look at pieces of a daffodil.....five hours of science later, we were done! It occurred to me that this is what learning is supposed to be about...nature learned outside in NATURE, not out of a textbook! If I can figure out how to post the sheets, I'll do so...

It's so much better that way, isn't it? Did you notice the way the outdoors just brings out the best in the kids as well? What a fun way to finish up the year with science!
